Christopher Burns, 76, of Cleona, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at his residence. He was the husband of Susan A. (Cook) Burns, with whom he celebrated 48 years together.
Christopher was born on June 23, 1948, in Bronx, New York, to the late James and Joan (McCooey) Burns. They moved to Staten Island, NY, near Richmond Town, and later to New Jersey.
He was a graduate of Brooklyn College and completed a carpentry apprenticeship with the New York District Council of Carpenters Apprenticeship Program. Chris was an excellent carpenter. He specialized in building and remodeling and had a specialty in finishing work.
In retirement, he assisted with delivering Meals on Wheels for Lebanon County and worked part-time for five years at the Greater Lebanon Refuse Authority in the recycling center.
Christopher enjoyed fishing and watching the horses, whether at Penn National Live or the Kentucky Derby. More recently, he liked to watch old-time shows on TV. He was known for enjoying his New York Times crossword puzzles while doing them in ink and listening to the Sunday brain teasers on NPR radio. Christopher also had a love and passion for taking care of his beloved animals, his cat, Joey, and his beagles, Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Michael A. Burns, of Cleona, PA; siblings, Michael J. Burns (Marianne), of Fair Haven, NJ, Alison Antenucci, of Keyport, NJ, Anthony Burns (Marie), of Matawan, NJ, Nicholas Burns (Karen), of Matawan, NJ, James Burns (Michelle), of Del Ray Beach, FL, Hillary Lombardi, of Colts Neck, NJ, David Burns (Carleen), of Middletown, NJ, and Adrienne Burmeister (Theresa), of Neptune City, NJ; uncle, Harold Reilly, of New Hampshire; aunt, Geraldine Corbliss, of Barnegat, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends in a few weeks, the location of which will be announced.
