Dana L. Lopes, 71, of Mount Pleasant and Fredericksburg, PA, passed away on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Lopes was born on May 11, 1953, in Mount Pleasant to the late Walter T. and Doris “Dolly” Hudec Remaley.
Dana was a graduate of Southmoreland High School Class of 1971. She went on to receive her LPN and worked at various nursing homes until she became the school nurse at Lickdale Elementary for over 20 years. After retirement, Dana enjoyed getting together with her work friends for their retiree’s luncheons. Dana also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the moments she had with her sons and grandchildren.
Dana is survived by her loving family: her husband of 50 years, Louis E. Lopes Jr.; sons, Chad (Missy) Lopes, Michael (Melissa) Lopes, and Justin Lopes; and grandchildren, Kaylee, Karter, Kelsa, Korbin, and Elliott. She is also survived by her siblings, Donald D. (Verla) Miller, Dennis K. (Terri) Remaley, and Anita (Jack) Guckert; uncle, Donald “Denver” Hudec; faithful canine companions, Lacey and Casper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Walter E. Remaley, Debbie L. King, and Vicki Remaley.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m., at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, Inc., Mount Pleasant. An additional viewing will be held on Sunday from noon until the start of her funeral service at 1 p.m., with Rev. Thomas Shirer officiating.
A viewing will also be held on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, from 6-8 p.m., at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown, and from 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday, followed by a service at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
