David J. Bachman, 90, of Palmyra, died on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Londonderry Village – Independent Living.

He was born on Sunday, September 4, 1932, to the late Walter M. Bachman and Anna G. Bachman, nee Hostetter, in Lebanon.

He graduated with a Master’s in Science from Coppin State College in Maryland. David worked at Union Memorial Hospital, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, Long Island College Hospital, Evangelical Hospital of Chicago, Bethany Brethren Hospital in Chicago, and Jersey City Hospital. He was the President of the Association of Operating Room Nurses and was published in the AORN Journal, Mennonite Family History, Today’s OR Nurse, and Descendants of Oswald and Maria Hostetter. David was a member of the Annville Church of the Brethren and a delegate and attendee to the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference. He was also a volunteer at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon County Historical Society, and a member of the Lebanon County Choral Society. He was the author of “A Gazetteer of Lebanon County,” and “They Delivered the Future: The History of the Good Samaritan Hospital Training School for Nurses,” both published by the Lebanon Historical Society.

Surviving is 18 nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; significant friend Michael E. Good.

He was preceded in death by siblings Nancy M. Scheer, Walter M. Bachman, Luke H. Bachman, and Mark W. Bachman; companion Robert V. Minford.

Viewing will be on Friday, November 18, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Annville Church of the Brethren, 495 E. Maple Street, Annville. Funeral services will be on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at Midway Cemetery, Lebanon, following the service.
