David J. Groff, 90, of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Pauline M. (Arnold) Groff, his wife of 69 years. Born in Lebanon on Sept. 23, 1930, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Light) Groff.
David was a graduate of South Lebanon High School where he played baseball and excelled in soccer. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Baltimore, which was the ship designated to represent the United States during the coronation of Queen Elizabeth. David was a member of the Friendship Fire Company and enjoyed taking part in golf, bowling, and dart leagues over the years.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his daughter, Michelle M. Fuhrman, and her husband, Mark; two grandchildren, Rachel Perini, and her husband, Justin, and Kaleigh Jean Francois, and her husband, Lucardy; three great-grandchildren, Adelina, Peyton, and Aubrey; and his brother, Richard Groff. He was preceded in death by three children, Cynthia, Elizabeth, and David; two sisters, Mary and Arlene; and a brother, Ernest.
David will be laid to rest privately at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lebanon with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s name may be made to the Lebanon VA Hospice Program, 1700 S.
