Maj. (Ret.) David M. Heibel, 78, of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, in the WellSpan York Hospital. He was the husband of Kathleen A. (Schultz) Heibel for 55 years.
Born in Erie, PA on June 22, 1943, David was a son of the late C. Richard and Pearl (Rhodes) Heibel. He was a retired engineer with 20 years of service in the U.S. Army, and also worked 18 years for the Commonwealth of PA. He enjoyed golfing, going to the beach, schnauzer dogs, and, most of all, spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Kathleen, are two children, Christine, wife of Thomas Horney, and Brian, husband of Christine Heibel; two grandchildren, Austin and Anna; a sister, Carolyn, wife of Paul Brown; a sister-in-law, Felicitas Heibel; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Heibel.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon, 17042. Viewing hours will be held Sunday, Dec. 5 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 6.
