David R. Motter, 79, of Jonestown, passed away on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of Phyllis M. (Tropasso) Motter. On Oct. 10, they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
Born in Pine Grove on May 6, 1946, David was the son of the late George C. and Clara (Ettien) Motter. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Parish Dana Corp. in Reading, where he was a crane operator. He enjoyed woodworking and his ’38 Chevy Coupe. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family drinking coffee.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his daughter, Lisa M., wife of Robert Gallarelli, of Green Point; sons, David J. Motter Sr., and his fianceé, Joette Weikel, of Jonestown, Kevin M. Motter, and his wife, Audrey, of Rexmont, and Joseph P. Motter, and his wife, Tammy Winters, of Lebanon; grandchildren, Michael, and his wife, Kaley Motter, David Motter, Joseph, and his wife, Emilie Motter, and Dustin Motter, and his fianceé, Chloe; great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Madeline, and Vincent; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Edward, Leroy, Frank, Jake, and Henry Motter; and sisters, Clara Rowe, Edna Breathwaite, Ella Kuhl, Myrtle Tropasso, Gertrude Lymaster, and Florence Donton.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
