David Robert “Dave” Schmidt, 72, of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, at UPMC Lititz. He was the husband of Marjorie G. (Vogt) Schmidt, with whom he celebrated 46 years of marriage.
Dave was born in Queens, NY, on July 8, 1953, to the late John and Flora (Erskine) Schmidt. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Houghton College in Houghton, NY, and his master’s degree from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA, in electrical engineering. He was an electrical engineer for Raytheon for 42 years. He and his wife attended Palmyra Grace Church. In the past, he volunteered on the sound team at his church in Massachusetts. He was active within various bible studies. Dave was a handyman, fixing things around the house. He attended and supported his daughters in their various sporting adventures. He enjoyed watching and playing sports, golfing, football, and baseball. He also enjoyed history, planes, boats, listening to worship music, photography, and reading.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his daughters, Kimberly Nelms, of Bogart, GA, and Stephanie Sileo, of North Sutton, NH; granddaughter, Harper Nelms; brother, John Schmidt, of Harrisburg; and sister, Nancy Long, of Lancaster.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11 a.m., at Palmyra Grace Church, 799 Airport Road, Palmyra. There will be a visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held privately at Bismarck “Quentin” Cemetery, Lebanon, PA.
