Donald D. Baer, 88, of Annville, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Lebanon Skilled Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Maylorraine A. (Seidel) Baer, who passed away in 2023.
Donald was born in New Bloomfield, PA, on Sept. 21, 1935, to the late Grover E. and Vanetta (Fleisher) Baer.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was an automotive equipment foreman for Harrisburg State Hospital. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, where he was active with the church council, property committee, and kitchen committee. He enjoyed reading and gardening.
Surviving is his sons, Donald D. Baer II, and wife, Jill, of Annville, and Andrew Scott Baer, and significant other, Bonnie Warren, of Cleona; grandchildren, Rick Bitzer, Alix Thomsen, and wife, Alexa, and Chloe Fischl; son-in-law, Jerome Fischl, of Macungie; son-in-law, Scott Greenly, of Mount Joy; brother, Kenneth Baer, and wife, Dorothy, of Shermans Dale; sister, Fay Loy, of Shermans Dale; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Barbara A. Greenly and Betsy Ann Fischl; and seven siblings.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 200 E. Main St., Annville. Burial will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville, with military honors. There will be a viewing from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
