Donald E. Rittle Sr., 81, formerly of Myerstown and most recently of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025, at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the widower of Lois J. (Clay) Rittle, who passed away on May 8, 2010.
Born in Lebanon on May 26, 1943, he was a son of the late Howard D. Rittle Sr. and Helen I. (Brandt) Rittle. Donald was a 1962 graduate of Lebanon High School. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting. Donald was a member of St. John’s Church-Mount Aetna and was employed as a mechanic at ALCOA in Lebanon for 34 years, retiring in 2001.
Donald survived by his brother, Dennis C., widower of Anita Rittle, of Lebanon; godchildren, James C., husband of Lorie Reed, of Bernville, Lisa M., wife of Jeffrey Kimmy, of Mechanicsburg, Christine, wife of Bradley Hershey, of Lebanon; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Scott Alan Rittle in 1962 and Donald E. Rittle Jr. in 2020; sister, Beverly Day; and brother, Howard Rittle Jr.
A viewing will be held from 9:30-11 a.m., with services beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, all to be held in St. John’s Church, 5 E. Mill St., Mount Aetna, PA 19544. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
