Dora (Hall) Hart, former longtime resident of Indiana Township, passed away peacefully on Dec. 12, 2024.

She was the beloved wife of the late Charles A. Hart and the adored mother of “the girls,” Sarah Hart (Rocco Bovalino) and Karen Fedder (Mardon). Also surviving are her two cherished grandchildren, Megan Hart Fedder and Rocco Charles Bovalino; and siblings, William Hall (Deana), Dorothy Anderson (Joel), and Nancy Bendick. She was predeceased by her parents, J. Earl and Angie Hall, from West Virginia and, later, Dormont, Pennsylvania.

Affectionately known to her daughters as “Mommy,” Dora brought her gentle, beautiful soul to everything in life. She lived her faith every day, demonstrating to her “girls” the importance of empathy, compassion, and charity. Maternal to her core, Dora was a steadfastly loving wife and mother who anchored the lives of her family. She wrapped them in her love through all of the expertly tailored clothes (including extensive wardrobes for Barbie), costumes, quilts, and myriad other items.

Dora’s skills as a seamstress were rivaled only by her talent as an artist. As a young mother, she outfitted her girls with their own smocks and “special supplies” and brought them along with her to her art class. Not only did she create masterful paintings in oils and, later, works in watercolors and pastels, but she inspired a love of creating in her small protégés. She continued to pursue her art throughout the years, eventually organizing her own art class in hopes of igniting a creative spark in others and fostering camaraderie among local artists.

Dora similarly brought her characteristic generosity, warmth, and patience to hosting everything from Fourth of July picnics to Bible studies. No daunting guest list, horrid driveway conditions, or “prematurely” eaten hors d’oeuvres would derail her efforts. Whatever the challenge, in hosting or in life generally, she’d employ her familiar mantra: “We’ll just have to make the best of it.” Invariably, between her grace as a hostess and her culinary offerings, a good time was always had by all.

Dora’s passing leaves an indescribable void in the lives of all who loved her. Yet, she leaves behind a legacy of love to be cherished forever. Now, her gentle soul resides in peace with God.

As per Dora’s wishes, burial next to her beloved husband, Charley, will be private. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in Pittsburgh, PA. Please feel free to contact Dora’s family for further details.

If desired and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Light of Life Rescue Mission or another charity in Dora’s honor.

From Proverbs 31:

28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
