Doris J. (Miller) Sampsel, 90, of Annville, went to her eternal home on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Lebanon Valley Home. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leroy H. Sampsel Jr.

Born in Dauphin County on Oct. 23, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Alton C. and Romaine (Cover) Miller.

Doris was a 1951 graduate of York Springs High School. She worked at Penn State University in State College and later retired from the Reese Candy Company.

Doris loved to cook and bake. In high school, she was awarded the Cherry Pie Champion. She believed that her fruitcake was the best. She was not blessed to be a mother, but she was a mother figure to her younger siblings. She loved to travel, so her suitcase was always packed and ready to go with her camera inside. She took many pictures of every place she visited.

Surviving are seven siblings, Richard M. Miller, of Gardners, David L. Miller (Sandy), of Gardners, Kenneth Miller (Bonnie), of Gardners, Donald E. Miller (Terri), of Gardners, Barry Lee Miller (Grace), of Carlisle, Margaret Shaffer (Rodney), of Biglerville, and Evelyn Criswell, of Biglerville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Doris was preceded in death by four siblings, Earl F. Miller, Alton C. Miller Jr., Thelma Arlene Staub, and Alma Bistline.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
