Doris V. Shaak, 92, of Myerstown, formerly of Emmaus, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at StoneRidge Towne Centre, Myerstown. She was the wife of the late Richard J. Shaak, who died in 2013.
Born in South Temple, PA on Aug. 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ida (Phillips) Berky. A 1946 graduate of Myerstown High School, Doris was a member of Myerstown UCC, and was a former member of the Emmaus Lioness Club. She was employed as a teacher’s aide in the East Penn School District and later as a secretary at Hillside School, Macungie, until her retirement in 1996.
Doris was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Glenn) Crossley, of Redmond, WA, daughter-in-law, Linda Shaak, of Whitehall, four grandchildren, Peter (Keri) Crossley, Sara (Nick) Scarsella, Kyle (Samantha) Shaak, and Katie (Karl) Cuff, six great-grandchildren, Jack, Thomas, and Henry Crossley, Cora Scarsella, Hunter Cuff, and Riley Shaak, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Shaak, Jr., and a sister, Elsie Dussinger. Her friends and family remember her as a kind, compassionate woman with a sweet, gentle soul.
Services and inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family.
