Doris Wonderling-Stanson passed from this earth to be with the Lord on Aug. 26, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born Doris Melda Dunlap on Dec. 20, 1934, in Licking Township, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, on a family farm.

Following her graduation from Sligo High School in Sligo, PA, she married Robert M. Wonderling. The Wonderling family relocated to Palmyra, PA, in 1967 as he began his career as an administrator at Lebanon Valley College (LVC). Robert passed away in 1995, and later, Doris married longtime LVC administrator, Gregory Stanson. At LVC, Doris enjoyed sporting events and drama productions and was an active member and served as president of the LVC Women’s Auxiliary.

In addition to her volunteer work at LVC, Doris was an active member of Palmyra First United Methodist Church, serving on the founding board of Noah’s Little Ark Preschool and as a teacher’s aide at Happiness Street Nursery School.

Doris owned a boutique children’s clothing store, “The Mulberry Bush,” in Hershey, PA, which combined her passion and love for children and her eye for fashion. She loved playing bridge, live theater, laughing, and sewing.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Cynthia L. Turnbull; daughter, Susan L., and son-in-law, Steven Alger; son, Robert C., and daughter-in-law, Kristin (Lichtenwalner) Wonderling; grandchildren, Megan Raub, Rebecca Drury, Brooks Alger, Hollis Miller, James Alger, and Sam, Mark, and Ben Wonderling; and great-grandchildren, Genevieve, Jackson, Simon, Caelyn, Miriam, Henry, Audrey, Wynona, Alaina, Olivia, Warren, Weston, and Adeline.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, at 11 a.m., in Zerr Chapel, Cornwall Manor, with a reception following. Contributions in her memory can be made to Cornwall Manor Benevolent Care at cornwallmanor.org/donate.
