Douglas Jay Meyer, 58, walked through the gates of Heaven into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 5th, 2021, at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
Doug was a member of Kauffman’s United Methodist Church. In his earlier days, he worked in the printing industry, including jobs at the Lebanon Valley Offset and Sowers Printing. More recently he worked as a real estate agent and spent his winter months preparing income taxes.
Doug enjoyed many sports and was a fierce competitor. In his younger days, he played Little League and Teener baseball for Bellegrove and enjoyed playing ice hockey. He played tennis frequently and was an avid golfer, winning many golf trophies over the years, as well as sinking 4 hole-in-ones. Doug could frequently be found on the golf course at the Lebanon Country Club. He also enjoyed fishing at his Aunt Cindy’s pond, always being careful not to harm the fish, and throwing them back. Doug enjoyed traveling on golf trips, hitting the casinos in Atlantic City with his brother, and vacationing at many fun places with family and friends. Wildwood, New Jersey was one of his favorites. During the Holidays, Doug and his brother Greg would spend hours and hours playing Gears of War video games.
Doug is survived by his parents, Larry and Boneta Meyer; brother Greg Meyer, sister Jamie Yiengst (Bradley), uncle Lyle Meyer, aunt Cynthia Pick, nephew Harrison Yiengst (Lexi), niece Miranda Stickler (Nick), grandnephew Forrest Yiengst, and several cousins. Doug will be sadly missed by his many friends and acquaintances; and especially by his dear friend Carole Zentz.
A Celebration of Doug’s life will be held at the Lebanon Country Club on Wednesday, December 1st at 1:00 p.m. This will immediately be followed by a lunch buffet and time of mingling to share memories of Doug. Internment will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Doug.
