Dr. Byron L. Clark, 79, of Lebanon, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, at the Carolyn’s House in Linglestown. He was the husband of Margaret Dickerson Clark. On December 26th, they would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.
Born in Cornwall, NY on June 28, 1942, he was the son of the late Byron L. and Betty Marlin Clark. He graduated from Towanda Area High School in 1960, attended Mansfield University, and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School in 1968. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army at Schofield Barracks, HI, where he served as a Captain and an Army Dentist during the Vietnam Conflict. While in the Army, he was a member of the Army Golf Team. He continued to be an avid golfer and taught the love of the game to his children and grandchildren. Dr. Clark was co-owner of Jonestown Dental Associates from 1973 until his retirement in 2012.
Throughout his career, Dr. Clark championed organized dentistry and was active in several dental organizations. He served as a Trustee for the Pennsylvania Dental Association (PDA) from 2001 – 2005. He served as the President of the Lebanon County Dental Society and also served as their Treasurer for many years. He was a member of the International College of Dentistry, the American Endodontic Society, the American Dental Association and the American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Christopher L. Clark, of Hershey; daughters Robin Cummings, of Sacramento, CA and Jennifer L. Clark wife of Dr. Tommy Osborne, of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren Jackson Cummings, of San Francisco, CA, Delaney Cummings, of San Diego, CA, Gabrielle Osborne, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Taylor Osborne, of Arlington, VA; his great-granddaughter, Maya Powell; and his “adopted” children, Fernando Bejarano, of Cali, Columbia, and Corinne Wentworth-Kotera, of Flower Mound, TX.
He was preceded in death by his sister Susan Lawton.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021. A visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. At the family’s request, please wear a mask.
