Dr. Elizabeth M. French, 72, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at her home. “Libby” to those who knew her, “Gram” to the grandchildren she so loved, was the wife of MG (Ret) Robert P. French. On August 18th, they would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary.
Born in Carlisle on July 22, 1950, she was the daughter of Edna Huffman Morse of Wyalusing, PA, and the late Milton P. Morse.
With a heart for and the gift of teaching, as a career educator, Libby taught elementary school students and, later, aspiring educators at Lebanon Valley College. She taught Sunday School. She taught her family. Everyone Libby taught was better for it. She was also an ardent learner, always striving to improve. She was an author. Libby did all these things because she loved the Lord.
In addition to her husband and her mother, Libby is survived by her sons Rev. Dr. Robert P. (Cassandra) French II and their children Aiden Elizabeth and Evylyn Grace of McConnellsburg and Dr. Jonathan E. (Breanne) French and their children Jonathan David, Julia Lynn and Jillian Nicole of Mars; sisters Kathy Bilinsky of N. Huntingdon Twp., Lana Watson of Port St. Lucie, FL, Nancy Winterringer of Wyalusing and Valerie Jenkins of Laceyville.
Libby was preceded in death by her brother Milton P. Morse, II.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lebanon Area Evangelical Free Church, 600 Shepherd St., Jonestown. A time of visitation will follow the service. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
