George W. Heisey, 92, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Health Center at Cornwall Manor.
Born in Lebanon, PA, on June 2, 1933, he was the son of the late William H. and Mabel A. (Rank) Heisey. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dolores L. (Landis) Heisey. George was a 1951 graduate of South Lebanon High School and a 1955 graduate of Elizabethtown College, where he lettered in soccer and tennis. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1959 from the University of Pennsylvania. In June 1961, George established a large and small animal practice, Avon Animal Clinic, which he operated until his retirement in June 1998.
He enjoyed time spent playing golf and tennis, water skiing, and family vacations to Litchfield by the Sea, SC. He had a passion for woodworking, particularly carved Santas and birds. Upon retirement, his interests also included chainsaw carving.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: son, Dr. Kyle L. Heisey (Dr. Diane Liebe) of Granger, WA; and daughter, Karlene L. (Gregg) DeRosa, of Souderton, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kevin G. DeRosa, of New York, NY, Kristen M. DeRosa, of Philadelphia, PA, Eric W. Heisey, of Berkeley, CA, and George D. Heisey, of Winthrop, WA. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Dr. William G. Heisey; and sister, Anna Mae Deckert.
