Earl K. Dohner, age 100, went to be with the love of his life of 69 years of marriage, on June 1, 2024 at his home.
Earl was born in Lebanon, PA, on April 14, 1924, to Elias Dohner and Goldie Dohner (Kreiser).
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and worked for Bethlehem Steel. Earl was a Mason with Mt. Olivet Lodge #704 for 70 years. He was also the oldest volunteer for Operation Santa, the Salvation Army, and the Lebanon Rescue Mission and was involved with many mission trips. Earl was involved with the Shriners, the Optimist Club, and polka pals. Cornwall Borough declared April 14 “Earl Dohner Day.” He was a friend to all.
He is survived by his daughter, Kandra Schmeltz, and spouse, Richard; son, Todd Dohner, and spouse, Elizabeth; honorary son, Robert Simmerman; grandchildren, Christopher Rague, and spouse, Billie Jo, Adam Dohner, and spouse, Gabrielle, Nathan Dohner, and spouse, Molly, Melissa Schmeltz Liebner, and spouse, Alex; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Geanne Forrey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda M. Dohner (Eckert); grandchild, Jeremiah Schmeltz; and several siblings.
A viewing will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at South Lebanon Community Church, 13 Evergreen Road, Lebanon, with services starting at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with full military honors.
