Edward J. Swanger, 86, of Myerstown, died on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Sheila R. (Weik) Swanger, whom he married on June 6, 1964.
Born in Myerstown, PA, on March 22, 1939, he was a son of the late Grover and Olive (Moyer) Swanger. He was a 1958 graduate of Myerstown High School, served in the U.S. Army, and worked as a mechanic at Bayer Corp., Myerstown, PA, for 39 years before retiring in 2004.
Edward and his wife, Sheila, were avid golfers and bowlers. He loved his dogs. Edward was a member of the Myerstown Rod & Gun Club and Goodwill Fire Co., Myerstown, PA. He was elected to the Bowling Hall of Fame.
In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by his sister, Josephine, wife of Richard Kohr, of Myerstown; brother, Ronald P. Swanger, husband of Sandy, of Myerstown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his half brothers, Richard, Harold, and Geary Wolfe; and sister, Irene Lucas.
