Edward P. Kohr, 78, of Myerstown, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. He was the husband of Janet M. Houser Kohr. On Aug. 5, they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.
Born in Jonestown on June 18, 1945, he was the son of the late Kermit and Eva Gettle Kohr.
Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He then retired from Hershey Chocolate in 2007, where he had worked in the Maintenance Department. He was a member of the Palmyra Quigley Baum American Legion Post 72 and the Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, dirt track racing, and especially spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Denise M., wife of Brad Fox, of Fort Mill, SC, and Kimberly L., wife of Doug Hetrick, of Jonestown; brother, Frederick Kohr, of Lebanon; and grandchildren, Coral Hetrick and Mason, and Jules and Brielle Fox.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene, Kenneth, Barry, Melvin, and Larry Kohr; and sisters, Evelyn Boyer, Shirley Kreider, and Barbara Barlett.
A graveside service with military honors will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A procession will leave the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown, at 10 a.m.
