Edwin Franklin Salem, 86, of Lebanon, died on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was married to the love of his life for 63 years, Dolores A. (Immel) Salem, who he now joins in heaven.

Born in Richland on Nov. 16, 1938, Edwin was a son of the late Harry A. Sr. and Esther O. (Peffley) Salem. A 1956 graduate of Myerstown High School, he served in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Bethlehem Steel and retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections in Frackville as an instructor. He was a volunteer for the Rescue Hose Company No. 4 and also served on the Lebanon City Zoning Board. He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Lebanon. He enjoyed reading and learning about Civil War history and the Underground Railroad of Pennsylvania. His radio was always on and tuned to a soft rock station, and he enjoyed watching and talking about sports.

Edwin is survived by his daughters, Theresa M., wife of Eric Snyder, of Womelsdorf, Sheilia R. Salem, of Lebanon, and Jacqueline A. Salem, of Lebanon; grandchildren, Rachelle J. Salem, wife of Cole Shea, Ryan A. Salem, and Christopher Snyder; and brother, Logan E., husband of Jane Salem, of Myerstown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, at 11 a.m., at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Lebanon, preceded by a viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110; or St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, 120 E. Lehman St., Lebanon, PA 17046.
