Eleanor K. Artz, 93, of Jonestown, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, at the Lebanon Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Lewis I. Artz, and they would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on May 12.

Born in Jonestown on Nov. 9, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Irwin W. and Sallie (Wolfe) Kern. She was a 1950 graduate of Jonestown High School and a graduate of Bryland School of Beauty. She was a lifelong member of the Jonestown United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and directed Vacation Bible School. She was a very caring person with a sweet spirit. She was known for sending cards to everyone she knew. She loved giraffes, cats, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Norma Artz, of Jonestown; son, James Artz Sr., and his wife, Debra, of Lebanon; grandsons, James Artz Jr., and his wife, Katie, of Elizabethtown, and Robert Artz, and his wife, Sarah, of St. Petersburg, FL; and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Caleb, and Cole.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Grace Hoffman and Helen Deaven; brothers, Curtis, Charles, Fred, Frank, Thomas, and James Kern; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at Jonestown United Methodist Church, 109 W. Market St., Jonestown, PA 17038. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. until the start of the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Jonestown.
