Eleanore “Bunny” Shemm passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at the age of 82.
Eleanore Margaret Weston was born on Easter Sunday, April 13, 1941, and was aptly nicknamed “Bunny.”
Bunny was a proud Philadelphian and loved Phillies baseball, soft pretzels, and pizza steaks and never lost her Philadelphia accent, even though she spent her later years in Lebanon, PA.
Bunny worked various jobs in retail, factory work, and even as a legal secretary before retiring from the Ferry Law Office. Bunny never forgot a birthday or holiday and loved to give gifts for special occasions. She was a lifelong crocheter and once made 20 blankets to donate to the homeless.
After her struggle with breast cancer, she made pink scarves to give out to women getting their mammograms. She took pride in decorating her dialysis center for every holiday, bringing candy and little gifts to cheer up other patients.
She loved to do projects around the house, and her kids always joked about her tireless painting and repainting of rooms in her house. Bun was an avid reader and loved mysteries and true crime.
Bunny fought fiercely through many health struggles, and her will to live amazed everyone who knew her. Most important to her was the role of caretaker for her disabled brother, Bill. Her children will ensure that Bill receives appropriate care for the rest of his days.
Bunny is survived by her brother, Bill; children, Jack Ferry Jr. (June), Daniel Ferry (Maria), Dianne Pilon (Charlie), and Cheryl Ferry (Peter); grandchildren, Melissa, Sean, Brianna, Thomas, Danielle, and Max; step-grandchildren, Eduardo, Luis, and Angel; great-grandchildren, Xiomara and Azula; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husbands, Jack Ferry Sr. and David Schemm; and siblings, Jimmy, Marie, Nancy, Harry (“Corky”), and Charlotte.
A celebration of life and inurnment will be announced at a later date.
