Elliot M. Discuillo, affectionately known as El, 70, left this crazy world peacefully on May 21, 2026. After months of struggling with pain, his body could no longer contain his feisty spirit. He was able to die peacefully in hospice with his daughter at his side, while listening to Michael Jackson’s music on repeat.
El was always a hard worker. He loved to work. It was almost an obsession. But this “obsession” resulted in him teaching his daughter to have a strong work ethic, and that has trickled down to his granddaughters. Unfortunately, his health prevented him from being able to be employed. He grieved not being a security guard at the library. Of all his jobs, even owning his own business, working at the library was his favorite. So, when an offer to work in Heaven manifested, he could not pass that opportunity up!
Sure, he would have loved to stay and be with his daughter, Joni (Perry) Newby; son-in-law, Brian; and granddaughters, Natalie and Guinevere. He hated leaving June Discuillo, his sister, Linda Young, and her family; and his best friend, Joe. But he heard his dog, Brownie, barking, and the benefits package in Heaven was too good.
Heaven gained a new angel, and Earth lost a kind, compassionate, brave, nurturing, friendly, funny, hardworking, generous, and loving soul. Sure, he wasn’t perfect, but no one is. But he was authentic and true to himself. That is a life well lived.
Please join us for a celebration of life on May 26 at noon. The family has elected not to do a wake after the service.Â
