Elmer Gerald Gutshall, 80, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 16, 2021, at his home.  He was born Thursday, January 30, 1941, in Palmyra to the late Elmer C. and Helen (Ellerman) Gutshall.  He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Bonita “Bonnie” (Jones) Gutshall. 

Elmer graduated from Palmyra High School in 1959 where he played football for the Cougars.  He retired from the Hershey Company following 39 years of faithful service in the milk house.  He worked part-time for Penn-Hershey Transfer to provide for his family keep his body and mind sharp.  He was a member of Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association, an avid outdoorsman known as the “General” at camp where he enjoyed his front porch seat and control of the kitchen.  He had a passion for football, especially Penn State and the Steelers.  He worked hard for his family and loved them beyond measure.

He is survived by five children, Tasey Leitzell and husband Lenny, of Harrisburg, Bonel Borrelli and husband Rich, of Annville, Troy Gutshall and wife Michelle, of Lawn, Della Murdock and husband Tim, of Harrisburg, Dawn Buckner, of MT; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren with one on the way.  He was predeceased by a son, Glenn Gutshall; two brothers, Arthur and Herman Gutshall, and a sister, Sayra Page.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078.  Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
