Elsie R. Acri, 96, of Palmyra passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Londonderry Village, Palmyra.
Born August 8, 1925, on the family farm near Elizabethtown, she was a daughter of the late John and Fannie (Gipe) Brandt. The widow of Richard S. Acri since April 1991, she was the last of her immediate family, being preceded in death by Ada Baker, Elva Gibble, Minerva Brandt, Abner Brandt, Anna Koser, Wilmer Brandt and Herman Brandt.
Elsie, retired as a registered nurse from the Hershey Medical Center, was a graduate of Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing and a member of their alumni association. She was a member of St. Thomas United Church of Christ, Linglestown, East Hanover Township Farm Women, a group that made and donated covers to local women’s and homeless shelters. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Hospice of Central Pennsylvania.
Elsie was a talented seamstress and made a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. She knit hats and sweaters for hospitals and relief organizations. She loved to travel and visited most of the states including Alaska and Hawaii and several countries. She was a kind and caring lady who was much loved by family and friends.
Surviving are her daughter, Kathleen B. Crum (widow of Don) of Groton, Vermont; son Richard B. Acri (Jodi) of Etters; grandchildren Erich Crum, Nicole Crum (Brandon Pecor), Gregory Crum (Hanna), Brian Acri (Amber Whiteaker) and Richard Acri; great grandchildren Alivia Crum, Jackson Crum, Annabelle Pecor, Lyda Crum, Maci Acri, Amelia Acri and Bryar Acri; step great-grandchildren, Kearsten Pecor and Payten Pecor.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra preceded by a visitation beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2021, in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
