Erma M. Cooke, 88, of Palmyra passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021, at home.
Born January 11, 1933, in Palmyra, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Clara V. (Summy) Weaver and widow of James B. Cooke since August 2015.
A member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Legion of Mary, the Cursillo Movement, and Our Lady’s Rosary Makers, she provided handmade rosaries for all the adults that entered the church. Erma was a 1950 graduate of Palmyra High School, Korean War U.S. Navy veteran, and a lifetime member of the Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association. Known as “Grandma” to Boy and Girl Scouts, she served the Girl Scouts for over 70 years.
Surviving are her children Kenneth Cooke of Texas, Pamela Becker of Tennessee, David Cooke of Delaware, Joni Brock of Florida, Michael Cooke of Lebanon, and Patricia Wilson of Palmyra; thirteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Church of the Holy Spirit, 300 West Pine Street, Palmyra followed by a celebration of life reception at the church. A procession will depart at 2:00 p.m. to Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville for committal and military honors.
