Ernest W. “Ernie” Heisey, 89, of Annville, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Cedar Haven Healthcare Center. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Jane (Miller) Heisey.

Born in Annville, PA, on April 5, 1934, he was the son of the late Warren and Hilda (Lingle) Heisey.

Ernie was a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ in Annville, where he served as an elder, deacon, and chair of the property committee for over 20 years. Throughout his life, he worked as a farmer, a welder for Cleaver-Brooks in Lebanon, a truck driver, a school bus driver, a crossing guard, a traffic police, and an Annville-Cleona school secretary. Ernie was a servant at heart. He was the Annville-Cleona Lions Club president and treasurer; he delivered audiobooks for the blind with the Annville Free Library; he coordinated eyeglass collection boxes for the Lion’s Club; and he was a trainer for leader dogs.

Surviving are three children, Thomas E. Heisey, of Lubbock, TX, Randal L. Heisey, husband of Julie, of Seattle, WA, and Barbara L. Heisey, of Birmingham, AL; and three siblings, Lloyd Heisey, of Cornwall, PA, Arlene Wenger, of Annville, PA, and Lucille Edris, of Lebanon, PA.

In addition to his wife, Ernie was preceded in death by his son, Donald E. Heisey.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Ernest and Betty that will be planned and announced in the near future.
