Esther L. Summers-Bowie, 83, passed to the other side of glory peacefully on Friday, February 24, at her daughter’s home in Annville, PA.

Born January 2, 1940, in Westminster, MD, she was the daughter of the late Airy L. Summers and Alice V. Jackson-Summers-Watford.

Mrs. Bowie was a long-term resident of Frederick until 2020, when her health started to decline. Mrs. Bowie worked as a crossing guard at South Frederick Elementary school for many years, worked for Mrs. Peggy Pilgrem, and then was employed by Citizens/Montevue home for 30 years until her retirement. Mrs. Bowie took pride in her work with the patients at Citizens and didn’t mind going the extra mile to take care of them. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and decorating her home during the Holidays.

The apple of her eye is her only grandson. Mrs. Bowie is survived by her daughter, Sharon Garcia, and husband, Chris, son, Thomas Austin Bowie, brother, Carroll Summers, grandson, Jonathon Christopher-Jose Garcia, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews from both sides of the family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Nolan Bowie Jr., siblings, Mary-Alice Fisher, Airy (Tuney) Summers, and Peggy-Ann McClure, step-father, Richard Watford, mother-in-law, Nellie Weedon Bowie, father-in-law, Austin T. Bowie, brothers-in-law, Arthur Bowie, Reginald Bowie, and Wright Weedon Bowie, and sisters-in-law, Mary Lyles, Doris Snowden, and Joann Bowie.

Services are entrusted to Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Annville, PA. Mrs. Bowie’s services will be private.
