Evelyn J. Hoffsmith, 94, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at Masonic Village at Elizabethtown. She was the wife of the late James L. Hoffsmith Sr., who passed away in 2018.

Born in Annville, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Lucy Mae (Long) Hanley. Evelyn owned and operated the former Bauer’s Shoe Store in Palmyra. She loved cooking, and pot pie, vegetable soup, and cream puffs were some of the foods remembered by her children that she made. Evelyn enjoyed traveling and swimming, was a sharp dresser, and loved wearing hats. She supported her children during their sporting events, provided a welcoming home to anyone who came to visit, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Evelyn was a longtime member of Zion E.C. Church in Annville.

She is survived by her sons, James L. Hoffsmith Jr. (Marilyn), of Manheim, Joel E. Hoffsmith (Sue), of North Carolina, and Jerome L. “Jerry” Hoffsmith (Linda), of Annville; grandchildren, Kirsten, Katie, Kyle, Erica, Brooke, Jordan, Andrew, Stephanie, and Janet; 20 great-grandchildren; and sister, Maryann Hanley. Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother, Brian Hanley.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at 11 a.m., at Zion E.C. Church, 710 S. White Oak St., Annville, PA 17003. Inurnment will be private. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of her service at the Church.
