Evelyn R. Nixon, 86, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, in Hershey, PA. Born on Aug. 13, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA, Evie was the daughter of Matthew and Irene Ballasy.

After graduating from St. Hubert’s Catholic High School for Girls, she moved to Lebanon to help care for family, where she met the love of her life, Thomas “Nick” Nixon. Over the course of 60 years of marriage, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to family.

For more than 30 years, Evie worked at Royer’s Flowers in Lebanon, where she combined her creativity with her love of bringing joy to others through beautiful floral arrangements. Her work reflected the care and thoughtfulness she poured into everything she did.

To know Evie was to know someone who never met a stranger. She loved people and genuinely enjoyed getting to know them. Whether she had known someone for years or had just met them, she could strike up a conversation that lasted hours. Her warmth, kindness, and gift for conversation made her unforgettable to so many.

Nowhere held a more special place in her heart than the mountains of Sullivan County, PA, where she cherished the time spent with those she loved.

Evie is survived by her sons, Bryan (Dianne) Nixon and Barry (Michelle) Nixon; grandchildren, Jenna (David) Blouch, Kyra (John) Roof, Dylan Nixon, and Morgan Nixon; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Amelia Roof; and sister, Irene Shetzline. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nick; and brothers, Joseph and Paul Ballasy.
