George D. “Champ” Rankin, 67, of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022. He was the husband of Darlene (Niemann) Rankin, with whom he celebrated an amazing 39 years in a beautiful marriage; he was Darlene’s life.
George was born in Newburgh, NY, on March 3, 1955, to the late George and Shirley (Herbert) Rankin.
He was a US Army Veteran, stationed in Germany and proudly served for the 101st Airborne Division. He was a retired correctional officer from Shawangunk Correctional Facility in New York. George enjoyed watching Nascar, football, and playing PlayStation. George was the greatest husband, an amazing father, the best grandpa, and the most incredible great-grandpa.
Surviving in addition to his wife is his children, Tammy Conklin and husband Ron, Tina Rogers, Darin Cherry, and wife Tiffany, George Rankin, Jr., and wife Tracee and Breyonda Rankin, grandchildren, Timothy, Ryan, Patrick, Andy, Jake, Erica, Cory, Tristan, and Emerson, and great-grandchildren, Addison, Seth, Emma, Hunter, Phoenix, and George’s “Butch” siblings, Patricia Parisi, Susan Damms, Georgia Rankin, Robert Rankin, Michael Rankin, and Mark Rankin.
He was preceded in death by his son William Cherry and great-granddaughter, Riley.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 10 AM from Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 618 E. Main Street, Annville, Pennsylvania. A military funeral will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will be a viewing held on Thursday evening, October 13, 2022, from 6 PM-8 PM and again Friday morning from 9 AM -10 AM at the funeral home. A post-funeral reception will be held at George and Darlene’s home in Lebanon.
