George J. Matalenas, 83, of Myerstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. He was the husband of Susan M. (Schott) Matalenas, to whom he was married 60 years on Sept. 10, 2020.
Born in Girardville, PA in 1937, he was the son of the late George W. and Mary A. (Balchus) Matalenas. A 1954 graduate of Bound Brook High School, he served in the U.S. Navy. George was a member of the Myerstown Rod and Gun Club. He was employed as a network engineer at Nabisco in Wilkes-Barre. George enjoyed trap shooting and fishing.
George is survived by a daughter, Sulynn Rogers, of Phoenixville; sons, Jeffrey, husband of Iris Matalenas, of Frederick, MD, James, husband of Nancy Matalenas, of Kennesaw, GA, George, husband of Renee Matalenas, of Dupont; grandchildren, Amanda, Laura, Zachary, Jessica, and Jim; a brother, Tom, husband of Marion Matalenas, of Bound Brook; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Matalenas.
Services and inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family.
