George R. Claman, 79, of Bethel, PA, died on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of Mae J. Claman, to whom he was married for 56 years on March 8, 2025.
Born in Mount Aetna, PA, on April 20, 1946, he was a son of the late John and Kathryn (Long) Claman. A 1965 graduate of Bethel High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. George was employed as a carpenter for A.H. Moyer, Myerstown, retiring after 20 years. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking.
In addition to his wife, George is survived by his daughter, Jeanette, wife of Dale Woodward, of Bethel; sons, John, husband of Marlene Claman, of Lebanon, and James, husband of Heather Claman, of Bethel; grandchildren, Eli, Autumn, Zakary, Breanna, and Meg; sisters, Betty Gibble and Lillian Wolf; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Wagner, Mary Claman, Helen Ritzman, and Iva Strickler; and brothers, Harold and Russell Claman.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, at 1 p.m., at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, PA 17067.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VA Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
