George W. Black, Jr., 90 of Lebanon passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022. He was the loving husband of Arlene M. (Matthes) Black, and they would have celebrated 65 years in marriage this May.
George was born in Lebanon on November 17, 1931.
After graduating from Lebanon High School in 1949, he served in the United States Navy. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. And retired from Bell Telephone after 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, doing puzzles, reading, and spending time with his family, especially gatherings in Mt. Gretna.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Steven Black (Jane), Sharon Hurst (Jon), David Black (Mandy), four grandchildren, Adam Hurst, Andrew Hurst, Daniel Black, Hallie Black, great-grandchildren Grayson Hurst, Rory Hurst, Addilyn Black, and sisters, Sara Jane Kury and Marion Bowman.
A memorial service will be on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 11 AM at St. James Lutheran Church, 53 Chestnut Street, Lebanon. Interment will be held privately at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be no visitation or viewing prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. James Lutheran Church.
