Announcing the death of George W Young, 70, of Jonestown, who unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025, at his home with his beloved dog, Rosie, by his side.
Born in Lebanon, PA, on Nov. 28, 1954, he was the son of Raymond H. and Joanne E. (Onley) Young. George was a graduate of Lebanon High School Class of 1972. He retired from Hershey Foods after serving over 40 years of happy employment in the maintenance department.
George was well-known for his great sense of humor and his passion and love for animals. After retirement, he volunteered weekly rain-or-shine at Grrs and Purrs animal shelter. He performed as Santa Claus for family and friends and local township holiday events. George was known to never wavier as a die-hard “Ford Man.”
George will sadly be missed by his monthly “Poker Gang” and all his friends and former go workers he met with on his schedule at local dinners throughout the month.
George is survived by his brother, Dan Eckenroth, and sister, Kelli Behney, both of Lebanon, PA, and two daughters.

At George’s request, there will be a celebration of life in the spring. It will be announced for all family and friends to attend.
