Gerald “Chub” Doster Sr., 84, of Newmanstown, died on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, at Celebration Villa of Lebanon.

Born in Heidelberg Township, Lebanon County, PA, on Feb. 25, 1940, he was a son of the late Alvin and Elsie (Ober) Doster.

Chub attended Schaefferstown High School. He worked as a pit loader operator for Pennsy Supply at the Prescott Quarry for over 60 years, from where he retired. Chub sang and played music his entire life, most recently with the Chub Doster and Hard Times Band.

He is survived by a companion, Elizabeth Shultz; daughters, Sherrie, wife of Mark Rutherford, and Sharon, wife of Gary Knoll; son, Gerald Doster Jr., companion of Kristy Demmy; granddaughter, Jessica, wife of Kyle Kloepfer; great-granddaughter, Ella; sisters, Hazel Bashore, Arnetta McMichael, Katie Killian, and Patricia Gibble; and many nieces and nephews.

Chub was preceded in death by brothers, Cloyd, Melvin, and Harlan Doster; and sister, Fern Behney.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be private.
