Gerald L. Parson, 83, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Sunday, March 31, 1940, to the late Chester H. Parson and June K. Parson nee Stohler in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
Gerald was a kind man who was loved dearly by his family and all who knew him.
He graduated from Schaefferstown High School in 1959. He went on to work at Raymark in Mainheim for over 30 years. Later, he worked as a salesman at Bomberger’s Lawn and Garden in Lititz until his retirement.
Gerald enjoyed working and collecting John Deere tractors. He had 11 tractors and two fire trucks at home that were his pride and joy. His love of tractors first started during his youth at his grandmother’s farm, where he helped and supported his family with his devoted work ethic. Gerald enjoyed racing at the Reading Raceway, bird watching, antiquing with his wife, Sandy, and volunteering as a bugler at Schaefferstown Cemetery.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Ruthann “Sandy” Parson nee Lengle; children, Todd Mader (Nancy), Gregory Mader (Angie), and Sheila Light; grandchildren, Megan, Justin, Kaitlyn, and Bryson (Cait); and a great-granddaughter, Natalia.
He is predeceased by his brothers, Lee Parson and Philip Parson.
Gerald was a beautiful soul who will be missed deeply by his family and all who knew him.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
