Gerald Wilson Capps (Butch), 77, of Lebanon, passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, in the Lebanon VA Medical Center, South Lebanon Township, Pennsylvania.
Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, he was a son of the late Homer and Martha Alice (Carter) Capps.
Gerald’s life was marked by unwavering commitment and integrity. He served his country for one year, 11 months, and 21 days with honor and distinction as a Combat Special Forces U.S. Army Ranger Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in the Airborne. He was a Purple Heart recipient.
He was a member of the Black Mason Society.
Surviving are his sister, Savaukia (Capps) Monroe, wife of Bernard Monroe, of Lynchburg; brothers, Will Calvin Capps, husband of Pam Capps, of Lynchburg, and Glenmore Carter, of Richmond, Virginia; and cousins, Germaine Henderson (Van), of Leesburg, Virginia, and Monteray Frazier (Rudolph), of Fayetteville, Georgia.
He was predeceased by his sister, Alicia Carter; and brother, Thomas Capps.
In this time of mourning, we honor Gerald Wilson Capps, whose journey through life may have concluded, but whose spirit will forever inspire us to live with purpose, compassion, and resilience. May he rest in eternal peace, with his legacy continuing to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
