Glen W. Myers passed away and joined his new choir early on Feb. 18, 2024, perfectly timed for Sunday morning worship.
He was born on Nov. 25, 1935, in Bakers Summit, PA, the son of the late Romaine Pressel Myers Markey and David Paul Myers (Died 1943) and stepson of the late Joseph Markey.
Glen was a 1953 graduate of Replogle High School in New Enterprise, Pennsylvania, and the Altoona School of Commerce. He served nine years in the PA National Guard. Early in his career, he worked for the Appleton Paper Company in Roaring Spring, PA, followed by 30 years as the credit manager for Hedstrom in Bedford, PA.
Glen was a member of the Bedford Church of the Brethren for over 50 years. He loved the Lord and spent hours studying and preparing his Sunday School lessons. He sang and directed the Harmony Hill Barbershop Chorus for 40 years and had other hobbies, including fishing and family trips to Canada, wood carving, painting, gardening, home maintenance, helping others, and visiting with family and friends. He kept a pocket full of pretzels, sipped his coffee slowly, never skipped a chance at ice cream, and was ruthless at Michigan Poker. When his home was full, he would sleep on the floor to give guests a soft mattress. Glen made time to play with the people who called him Pap and gave special treats to the neighbor’s dog. His steadfast love and care for his wife, Donna, were immeasurable. He faithfully supported his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in all of their activities, successes, and sorrows. He was so very kind and enjoyed meeting new people.
Surviving is her daughter, Kathy S. Nave, husband, Brad, of Georgetown, Indiana; son, Steve Myers, wife, Kathy, of Annville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Mae Baker Myers, in August 2022; as well as brothers, Charles K. Myers and Dale Suiters.
Memorial services will be held at the Bedford Church of the Brethren on April 20, 2024, beginning at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, please forward donations to the Women’s Fellowship Committee at the Bedford Church of the Brethren.
