Gloria Faye Metz, 93, of Lebanon, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at The Lebanon Valley Home. She was the wife of Delmar L. Metz, with whom she celebrated 72 years of marriage.
Gloria was born in Lancaster on Dec. 12, 1931, to the late Melvin and Mildred (Haldeman) Hershey.
She loved roller skating with her husband. She was an experienced waitress who worked at several local diners for catering services and volunteered at local soup kitchens. She was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family. She will most be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a true friend to many who have since passed. Gloria was a dedicated member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Cleona, where she spent much of her time tending to the children in the nursery during services.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her son, Robert M. Metz, and his husband, Peter C. Donnelly; daughter, Barbara D. Derr, and her husband, Stephen; grandsons, Zachary M. Derr (Tracey) and Nathan B. Derr (Jennifer); great-grandchildren, Mason Derr, Harper Derr, Cora Derr, and Ronan Derr; and stepbrother, Kenneth Hershey, of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Hershey Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. There will be a viewing from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
