Gloria J. (Chronister) Kolar, 84, formerly of Fredericksburg, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at her daughter’s home. She was the wife of the late Steven Kolar, who died in 2022.
Born in Hershey on Dec. 15, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Fern (Schell) Chronister. Gloria worked as a beautician in her own shop for many years. She also worked at Esther’s Restaurant as the heavy-duty cook, helped her husband with accounting in his business, and cleaned rooms at Fort Indiantown Gap. In her spare time, she enjoyed making ceramics, gardening, bowling, cooking for her family, and doing puzzles.
She is survived by her daughters, Joette M. Weikel, and her fiancé, David Motter, of Jonestown, Karen L., wife of Dale Rittle, of Fredericksburg, and Deborah L., wife of Donald Sands Sr., of Myerstown; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and brother, Larry, husband of Karen Chronister, of TN.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey S. Kolar; and son-in-law, Douglas Weikel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown. There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the start of the service. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg.
