It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gordon Roger “Ted” Hains Sr., who died peacefully on Aug. 4, 2025, in Lebanon, PA. He was a devoted husband to Shirley and a loving father to Susan, Tim, Cindy, Jeff, Audrey, Terrie, David, Becky, Greg, Brian, Mark, Shirlene, Gordie, and Pam. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Gordon was born on April 29, 1936, in Lebanon, PA, the son of Russel and Helen Hains. He was known for his dedication to his family, strong work ethic, and quick sense of humor. He had a passion for the beach, camping with his wife and children, and piloting the family Cessna. He didn’t miss a chance to cheer for his kids and grandkids at their sports games. He and his wife enjoyed traveling on cruises seeing different parts of the world, such as Alaska, the Panama Canal, New England, Canada, and Norway, to name a few. As the founder and owner of the family business, Hains Pattern Shop, he diligently built the business from the bottom up. He faithfully supported fundraisers for his kids’ school, church, and Duchenne MD organizations.
Gordon is survived by his spouse, Shirley, of nearly 70 years; children, Susan, Cindy, Jeff, Audrey, Terrie, David, Becky, Greg, Brian, Mark, Shirlene, and Gordie; daughters- and sons-in-law, Deb, Mary Ann, Joan, Leanne, Dena, Perlita, John, and Kristian; 21 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Lynn; sister-in-law, Barbara; brother-in-law, Warren; three nieces; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy; daughter, Pam; sister, Jackie; and nephew, Barry.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, at St. Cecilia’s Church, 120 E. Lehman St., Lebanon, PA 17046. A visitation will be held prior to Mass from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Our Lady of the Cross School, 1691 Grace Ave., Lebanon, PA 17046, in Gordon R. Hains Sr.’s memory.
We will cherish the memories of Gordon Roger Hains Sr. His love and guidance will forever remain in our hearts.
