Gregory A. Cassel, Sr., 66, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, at Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Harrisburg. Born Wednesday, July 14, 1954, in Hershey, he was the son of the late Carl G. and Irma J. (Shirk) Cassel. He was married to Joni M. (Jones) Cassel on Aug. 23, 1975.

Greg owned Greg’s Auto Center of Campbelltown and then worked at Smith’s Dairy before working for Hershey Foods for over 29 years before retiring in 2009.  Greg was also a member of Palmyra Fire Company, Lebanon County EMA, and Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, Palmyra.

In addition to his wife of over 45 years, he is survived by three children: Robert T. Cassel, married to Fawn, of Landisburg, Adrienne S. Eckenrode, married to Dennis, of Palmyra, and Gregory A. Cassel, Jr., of Palmyra. Also, surviving are granddaughters: Ashlyn Eckenrode, engaged to Gordon Peters, and Taylor Eckenrode; grandsons: Austin and Cody Cassel, and Cooper Eckenrode; great-grandson, Weston Peters; three siblings: Thomas Cassel, married to Lorraine, David Cassel and Fred Cassel; an uncle, Richard Shirk, married to Debra, as well as Greg’s extended family and caring friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Vicki L Groft, a granddaughter, Maura Eckenrode, and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, 131 Gravel Hill Rd., Palmyra, PA  17078. Everyone attending is encouraged to wear a face covering and practice social distancing. A time of visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
