Harold F. Brown, 90, of Pine Grove, passed away at his residence on Monday, Aug. 4, 2025. He was the husband of Ruth E. (Green) Brown, of Pine Grove. They would have celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary in December.
Born in Tremont on Feb. 2, 1935, Harold was the son of the late Franklin H. and Pearl A. (Schach) Brown. He graduated from Tremont High School with the class of 1953. He attended Echo Valley Grace Church, where he gave his life to Christ in November. He worked as a caregiver for the VA Medical Center and was a private duty caregiver for the mentally challenged. He had a cement business, where he made animals out of cement and benches, as well as other things. During his early years, Harold’s parents owned the National Hotel in Tremont, and his first job was working at the hotel. The most enjoyable times were putting smiles on people’s faces with his jokes and his infectious laughter, going to the beach with family and friends, having picnics, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by his daughter, Angela L., wife of Steve J. Ruddy, of Tremont; stepsons, James A. Herb Jr., of Minersville, and Jason M., husband of Nicole Herb, of Allentown; stepdaughter, Christina M. Herb, of Tower City; grandchildren, Austin, Stacey, Jade, Bryce, Alyssa, Quinn, Kylie, Braydan, Chas, and Gianna; great-grandchild, Westyn; and cousins, Steve, Scott, Bruce, Walter, and Brenda. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Jean Wolfe; and many more cousins.
A private celebration of life will be held later this year.
