Harry L. Weddle, Jr., 83, passed away at his home on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020. He was the husband of Loretta (Light) Weddle, his loving wife of 60 years.

Born in Lebanon, PA on Nov. 22, 1937, Harry was the son of the late Harry L. Weddle, Sr. and Elenore (Ulrich) Weddle. Harry was a 1956 graduate of Lebanon High School and attended West Chester State College where he earned a degree in secondary education in 1960. After graduating from West Chester, he was hired by the Lebanon School District where he spent 38 years teaching social studies. Harry had a great flair for making history come alive for his students. He was a lifetime member of the Lebanon County Education Honor Society. Outside of his professional career, Harry enjoyed playing golf. He was a founding member of the LHS golf tournament which provided scholarships to students pursuing higher education. Harry was an avid historian and enjoyed reading in his spare time. He was a lifetime member of the Cumberland Club where he enjoyed socializing with his friends. He was also a practicing Catholic and a member of St. Cecelia’s church. Harry had a great love for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. At family gatherings, he was always the life of the party. He made sure there was always plenty of laughter, libations, and love. His quick-witted humor and welcoming smile could always light up a room.

In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by two children, Steven Michael, husband of Amy Nelson Weddle, and Kathryn Anne, a friend of Tarah Elizabeth Gross. He also was a loving and devoted grandfather to Haleigh Elizabeth, Hannah Marae, Claudia Rose, Luke David, Haley Elizabeth, and Ethan Robert who cherished him dearly. He was preceded in death by his brothers John, Lewis, and Robert.

Harry will be remembered fondly by all those who he touched with his outgoing personality, caring demeanor, and love of life. Harry’s celebration of life will be live-streamed only on Dec. 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. A link will be available the morning of the service through YouTube and will open at 10:45 a.m. for people to begin to view.
