Harry (“Lee”) Schrum, Jr., 84, passed away on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, after a recent diagnosis of cancer.
He was born on Dec. 12, 1935, and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. Due to a company transfer, he and his family moved to Pennsylvania in 1983. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a laborer, and, in his retirement, he was a carrier for the Patriot News. Lee was a kind and loving man who would “give you the shirt off his back” if you needed one. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon Lodge #226 and the Lebanon York Rite Bodies. He married the love of his life, Donna Jeanne (“DJ”) (Wellendorf), on Aug. 17, 1963 and they recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. He was also an amazing father to his children, Deb (Mark) Lerchen, Keith (Carin) Schrum, and Brian (Lisa) Schrum, and was also known to “adopt” many of his children’s friends as though they were his own.
Aside from being survived by his wife and children, he leaves behind 11 grandchildren, TJ, Karla, Chrisi, and Emma Lerchen, Quinn, Connor, Keely, Kane, Brandon, Elizabeth, and Andrew Schrum, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Betty (Smith) Schrum, Sr., brothers, Bruce and Gary Schrum, and two grandchildren, LeRoy and Carolyn Lerchen.
Due to COVID restrictions, the family will hold a private funeral with the hopes to hold a memorial service soon.
