Harry R. Ernfield, 76, of Myerstown, PA died December 14, 2024 at Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.
He was the husband of Beverly A. (Shaak) Ernfield. They were married on May 22, 1971, and celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Born in Jackson Township, PA on February 8, 1948, he was a son of the late James V. and Bertha M. (Reed) Ernfield.
Harry was a 1966 graduate of ELCO High School. Mr. Ernfield enlisted in the U.S. Marines Sept. 15th 1965. He served in Khesanh, Vietnam during the Tet Offensive. Harry worked as an electrician and carpenter for the PA Turnpike Commission for 26 years and retired in 1997. After retirement, Harry started his own business, Beechwood Designs Custom Woodworking, Myerstown. It was in operation from 1997-2010. He was a member of Myerstown VFW, Life member of Richland American Legion, Marines Served in Vietnam, Myerstown Rod & Gun Club, Goodwill Fire Co., and Mt. Aetna Fire Co. He enjoyed woodworking, shooting, and 40 years of hunting at his cabin in Potter County. Harry took great pride of the home of which his father and him built together.
In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by a daughter, Adrian Layser, of Myerstown; son, Daren R. Ernfield, husband of Kendra of Myerstown; grandchildren, Peyton Layser, Chase Layser, & Ainsley Ernfield; sisters, Loretta Stamm, Jeannette Yeakley, & Constance Shaak; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Weik; brother, John Ernfield; and step father, Felix Kline.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Grose Funeral Home, Inc., 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, PA. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Myerstown.
