Hazel Dove Moyer, 78, of Jonestown, PA, died at Hershey Medical Center of a stroke caused by a brain bleed on Oct. 11, 2023.
Hazel was born in Leesburg, VA, in 1945 to a large family. Leesburg is close to Washington, DC, where Hazel got her first job with the Pentagon at the young age of 19. It was here in Washington where she met the love of her life, Walter R Moyer (deceased), and got married on New Year’s Day 1969. Hazel and Wally lived in Colorado, Northern California, and New Mexico before moving to Pennsylvania in 1973. Hazel had many adventures with all her different types of jobs, which she thrived in, always dutiful to being productive. Hazel liked to have projects to keep her intellectual mind active and productive. After moving to Pennsylvania, she got involved in working for the Fort Indiantown Gap. She had many positions before she landed the title of comptroller financial analyst of the entire facility. She retired from that post and moved on to Hershey Foods Corporation for a less challenging role. She enjoyed her jobs and made many friends along the way.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Amy Moyer, living in Philadelphia; her loving son, Grant Moyer, living in North Carolina; Ethan Moyer, her precious grandson; and her caring younger brother, Shirley Phillips.
Anyone who has ever been friends with Hazel knows how generous and loyal a person she was. You could tell her anything, and she would keep it locked up in a vault. You could trust her with your thoughts. She was very generous, always wanting to share whatever she could with her friends and family. She will be missed but never forgotten. She was a wonderfully unique woman, a constant loving wife and companion, and the best mother you could ever hope for as a child and adult.
In keeping with Hazel’s wishes, there will be no services.
