Ivan L. Loy, 84, of Pine Grove, died Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Marie D. Kessler Loy with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Born in Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, on August 16, 1936, he was the oldest son of the late Charles and Alma Moyer Loy. He retired as an assistant manager at Acme Markets after 40 years of service. He served in the 228th S&T Battalion of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for 21 years and retired with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a lifelong farmer.
Ivan was a 1954 graduate of Pine Grove High School and a member of Salem Hetzel’s United Church of Christ, Washington Township. He was a member and Past Master of Pine Grove Masonic Lodge #409, F.& A.M. and served as the organization’s Treasurer for 29 years. He was a member of the Pine Grove Senior Citizens; Grundsaw Lodge #5, Pine Grove, and was fluent in Pennsylvania Dutch.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife, are a daughter, Marlene M., wife of Michael Troxell, Pine Grove, a son, Mark I., husband of Audrey Loy of Del Norte, CO, three grandchildren, Rachel M. Troxell and fiancé Colin J. Macfarlane, Matthew M. Troxell, and Amelia S. Loy, a brother, Dennis H. Loy, a sister, Irma L. Fessler, a sister-in-law, Anna Faye Loy, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Krammes and Helen Readinger, and a brother, Robert M. Loy
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Kreamer and Lum Funeral Home and Crematory, 5 Camp Meeting Road and Route 72 North, Jonestown. Inurnment will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with Military Honors. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A masonic service will be held by Pine Grove Masonic Lodge, #409 F.& A.M. at 11:45 a.m. prior to the visitation.
